Leicester City will play hosts to Sheffield United at the King Power Stadium on Thursday evening hoping to pick up maximum points so that they can keep their top-four hopes alive. The Foxes will head into this encounter on the back of a humiliating 4-1 defeat versus Bournemouth last weekend which has hampered their chances of securing UEFA Champions League football next season. Therefore, Brendan Rodgers will expect his players to come back with a strong performance when the Blades come to town in midweek.
The East Midlands outfit will opt for a 3-4-1-2 formation with Ryan Bennett expected to start in the absence of Caglar Soyuncu, who will miss out due to suspension.
3-4-1-2 Leicester City Predicted Lineup To Face Sheffield United
Defence
Kasper Schmeichel should continue in goal for the Foxes despite putting in a disappointing display versus the Cherries last night. Caglar Soyuncu had received a red card in his previous outing which makes him unavailable for this midweek showdown versus the Blades. Therefore, Rodgers will have to make a couple of changes to his back three as Ryan Bennett and Wes Morgan will come in to play alongside Jonny Evans in defence. All three defenders will have their hands full while up against the in-form Sheffield attacking pair of David McGoldrick and Oli McBurnie.
Midfield
Both Youri Tielemans and Wilfred Ndidi will operate as the holding midfielders as they focus on stopping the Blades from getting a foothold at the centre of the park. The hard-working duo will also need to provide some decent service to the front players.
Christian Fuchs might get the nod to start on the left flank while James Justin fills in on the other side as the right wing-back. Both Marc Albrighton and Ben Chilwell are significant concerns ahead of this game. James Maddison could miss out as well as he is still recovering from his hip injury.
Ayoze Perez will get the freedom to play in the number ten position as a free-flowing attacking midfielder. His primary job will be to orchestrate some promising goal-scoring chances for the Leicester strikers up top.
Attack
Jamie Vardy found the back of the net in his last outing which has put him in pole position to win the Premier League’s golden boot this season. The English striker will be hungry for more goals when he features alongside Kelechi Iheanacho up top.
