Everton clashed heads with Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this evening hoping to pick a result on the road. The Toffees suffered a big blow midway through the first half as they conceded the opener when Giovani Lo Celso’s shot saw the ball deflect off Michael Keane into the Everton net. Spurs went into the half-time break with one goal to the good.
The Merseyside outfit tried to come up with a response after the half-time break, but were not able to breach the Tottenham defence. The contest finished with Carlo Ancelotti’s men suffering a disappointing 1-0 loss away at North London.
Let’s take a look at how each Everton player fared during the match against Spurs.
GK: Jordan Pickford – 5/10
The English keeper made a couple of decent stops to deny Heung-min Son in the second half. However, he struggled to dominant his own six-yard box and looked far from convincing during the 90 minutes.
RB: Seamus Coleman – 6/10
He struggled to cope with the pace of Heung-min Son, but did enough work defensively to restrict him from scoring. Coleman got into some promising positions in the attacking third, but his final delivery let him down.
CB: Michael Keane – 6/10
The Toffees centre-back was quite unfortunate to see the ball deflect off him into an empty net. Otherwise, he had a good game at the back and did well to keep Harry Kane quiet throughout the 90 minutes.
CB: Mason Holgate – 5/10
He got cautioned after pulling down Lo Celso, which also hurt him in the process. Holgate was subbed off in the 36th minute which would be a significant concern for Carlo Ancelotti.
LB: Lucas Digne – 7/10
The French full-back was always willing to join in on the attack and showed some promising signs during the game. Digne did not deserve to end up on the losing team.
RM: Alex Iwobi – 4.5/10
The ex-Arsenal winger hardly got a touch on the ball in the first 45 minutes, so Ancelotti had no choice but to replace him at the half-time break.
CM: Andre Gomes – 5.5/10
He retained possession well in midfield but didn’t show enough invention with his passes in the opposition half.
CM: Tom Davies – 6/10
The Everton midfield ace worked his socks off to chase down the opposition. However, he was not able to produce anything of note going forward.
LM: Gylfi Sigurdsson – 4/10
The Icelandic international struggled to cope with the tempo of the game and produced another lacklustre performance today. Sigurdsson failed to create anything meaningful in the final third and looked like a shadow of his former self.
ST: Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 5.5/10
The English striker never looked like he had a goal in him. However, he did well to hold the ball up a few times, but his overall performance was still far from convincing.
ST: Richarlison – 7/10
The Brazilian attacker was Ancelotti’s best hope for a goal today. He refused to give up without a fight and tried to make things happen in the final third. Unfortunately, he hardly got any decent service from his teammates in what turned out to be a frustrating outing for him.

CB: Yerry Mina – 6/10
The Colombian centre-half came on and did well to restrict the opposition from scoring in the second half.
RM: Anthony Gordon – 6/10
The Toffees youngster was always eager to shoot and even managed to test Hugo Lloris with his strike from long range.
LM: Bernard – 5/10
He offered very little after coming off the bench.
RB: Djibril Sidibé – 5/10
The French full-back didn’t have too much to do and was hardly tested defensively during his time on the pitch.
ST: Moise Kean – 5/10
He made a bright run in the dying embers of the contest, but failed to find any of his teammates with his cross.
