West Ham United will entertain Burnley at the London Stadium on Wednesday afternoon hoping to pick up another win at home in the Premier League. The Hammers had to settle for an entertaining 2-2 draw versus Newcastle United yesterday but will go into this game full of confidence as both Tomas Soucek and Michail Antonio are enjoying a great run of form in front of goal.
David Moyes will probably opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and might make one change to his first-team for this midweek contest versus the Clarets. Andriy Yarmolenko will be expected to get the nod ahead of Manuel Lanzini who has struggled to perform at a high level in recent matches.
4-2-3-1 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face Burnley
Defence
Łukasz Fabiański will retain his place in between the sticks for the East London outfit despite conceding two goals in each of his past four league starts. Angelo Ogbonna will resume his centre-back partnership with Issa Diop at the heart of the Hammers backline as they try to keep Burnley’s Matěj Vydra and Jay Rodriguez quiet throughout the 90 minutes.
Ryan Fredericks will once again get a chance to shine as the right-back while Aaron Cresswell fills in on the other side at left-back. Both West Ham full-backs will need to be more adventurous than usual if they are to create enough chances for the front players.
Midfield
Tomas Soucek has been in the form of his career over the past few matches, so he will once again get the opportunity to shine at the centre of the park alongside Declan Rice as they try to establish West Ham’s dominance in midfield. The talented trio of Jarrod Bowen, Pablo Fornals and Andriy Yarmolenko will operate just ahead of them as part of Moyes’ attack.
Manuel Lanzini was lacklustre last weekend and will have to settle for a substitute’s role this time around. Felipe Anderson might be fit enough to secure a spot alongside him on the West Ham bench.
Attack
Michail Antonio will once again spearhead Moyes’ attack up top. He will hope to use his pace to run the channels and cause some headaches for the Burnley defenders. The English striker has scored two goals in his past two starts which will give him a lot of confidence heading into this midweek showdown at the English capital.
