Premier League giants Arsenal secured a 4-0 victory against bottom club Norwich City tonight after the Canaries were entirely undone by individual errors in the defensive third. Despite the away side starting the game with high intent, a first-half mistake from Tim Krul in goal gifted Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the opener. It was all smooth sailing from there for Mikel Arteta’s men as they cruised to a comfortable and comprehensive win. Granit Xhaka and Cedric were the other scorers as their Gabonese talisman ended up with two on the night.
Here Are The Arsenal Player Ratings Vs Norwich City:
Arsenal Player Ratings Vs Norwich City
Emiliano Martinez – 6
Made a couple of decent stops throughout the ninety, but generally had an extremely comfortable evening. Didn’t have a lot to do owing to the lack of firepower in the Norwich City attack.
Shkodran Mustafi – 5.5
The German centre-half didn’t look set in his role from the opening minute and played a flurry of inexplicably loose balls out as well. Arteta went on to substitute him at the halfway mark.
David Luiz – 6.5
The Brazilian put in a good performance on his return to the first-team in the Premier League as it was his long ball forward that set up one of the Arsenal goals. Sat in the centre of the Gunners defence and led the line well.
Sead Kolasinac – 6.5
The speedster was deployed as part of a back three by Mikel Arteta tonight, as the Gunners looked to go on the offensive against the league’s bottom club. Didn’t make any mistakes during the tie.
Hector Bellerin – 6.5
The Spaniard wasn’t at his best tonight as he struggled to deliver quality into the box all through the fixture. Defended fairly effectively though and ensured that he maintained his position at the back.
Dani Ceballos – 7
The Spaniard was good in flashes in the first half and did a decent enough job in the second period as well. Was involved in every attack that this Gunners side created, and his departure will be a worry.
Granit Xhaka – 7.5
The Swiss midfielder put in a solid display in the core of this Gunners side and even managed to pick up what was his first goal of the season. Played some good passes out and protected the defence too.
Kieran Tierney – 7.5
The youngster was quite brilliant down the flank tonight as he linked up well with the Arsenal attackers. Defended superbly too and didn’t allow the Norwich attack any space to work with in the final third.
Reiss Nelson – 6.5
The youngster was given a rare start on the right flank tonight, but he struggled to have an impact on the game. Had some good touches all through the fixture, but never looked penetrative enough.
Alexandre Lacazette – 5.5
The French forward had a couple of glorious opportunities to open the scoring in the first half but failed to take advantage of either of them. Linked up with Aubameyang but never threatened.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 9
The Gabonese international striker was undoubtedly the best player on the pitch tonight, as he scored two real poacher’s goals to take the tie beyond the Canaries. Hunted down every loose ball as well.
Substitutes
Rob Holding – 6
Came on as a half-time substitute in place of a struggling Mustafi. Maintained his positioning pretty efficiently and made a couple of essential blocks in the final third as well.
Joe Willock – 6
The youngster added a little bit of pace and energy into a tiring Arsenal attack in the latter stages of the tie. Managed the game well and played some good balls into space.
Edward Nketiah – NA
Didn’t have time to make an impact.
Cedric Soares – NA
Scored a goal on his debut, albeit via a massive deflection.
Nicolas Pepe – NA
Didn’t have time to make an impact.
