Newcastle United suffered a defeat at the hands of Manchester City this weekend in their FA Cup clash, although it could not be said that Pep Guardiola’s men outplayed them. That should provide the Magpies with some confidence going into their next match against Bournemouth. Eddie Howe’s men are absolutely out of form, and currently, it looks difficult for them to stay afloat in the Premier League next season. The Tyneside club would look to take this opportunity and register a win against the minnows.
Newcastle United predicted lineup against Bournemouth
Defence
Martin Dubravka will take his position in the goal, hoping to register a clean-sheet. Javier Manquillo is fresh from signing a new contract with the club and would be raring to make an impression for the side and therefore he is slated to take the right-back position ahead of Yedlin. The two centre-backs that Steve Bruce should start are Lascelles and Fernandez.
Clark would not be able to take the field this time as he is yet to return from his long term injury, meaning the bench would not be as strong as the manager would like in respect of the defenders. For this game we expect Matt Ritchie to operate as the left-back with the 30-year-old looking to make an attacking contribution down the left flank, with Rose being deployed against City the other night.
Midfield
Jonjo Shelvey was given a rest against the Mancunian side, and thus we can expect the former Liverpool man to operate from the centre of the midfield. The other two positions could go to Sean Longstaff, although the youngster played the entire length of the weekend clash.
Isaac Hayden has been one of the most important players for Bruce, and therefore he would be asked to play as an anchor in the midfield for the side. After being dominated in the middle of the park by a far superior team, Newcastle should control the proceedings with this lineup against Bournemouth.
Attack
The Magpies deployed Carroll as the lone forward in the last game, but against a weaker Bournemouth, we should be able to see the combination of Carroll, Joelinton and Saint-Maximin to lead the line for the side. The Englishman could play in a central role with the other two operating from the flanks. Against City, the ex-Liverpool man failed to impress, and thus this could be his opportunity to make things right.
