Jurgen Klopp’s dominant Liverpool side were officially crowned champions of England tonight after Chelsea ended Manchester City’s mathematical hope of retaining the title. Frank Lampard’s team emerged 2-1 winners on the night, after what was a genuinely spirited display from a well-balanced Chelsea team. Every player in Blue gave it their absolute everything on the pitch tonight, and it was a proper team performance from the home side.
A crisp solo goal by Christian Pulisic was backed up by a late Willian penalty, after Fernandinho was judged to have handled the ball in the box, and was shown the red card. The win takes the West London club to within just a single point of Leicester City in third place. With the likes of Manchester United, Wolves and Tottenham hot on their tail, this will come as a priceless three points for Lampard in the context of the current season.
Here Are The Chelsea Player Ratings Vs Manchester City:
Chelsea Player Ratings Vs Manchester City
Kepa Arrizabalaga – 6.5
The Spaniard didn’t look overly confident between the sticks and could’ve easily given away a cheap goal during the tie. Made a couple of decent stops but didn’t get anywhere near the De Bruyne strike.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 7
The skipper was reliable at the back for the most part, apart from a couple of instances where Mendy beat him. Had a much more comfortable evening after the Frenchman went off.
Andreas Christensen – 7.5
Took a fierce shot straight to the head during the tie, but came back as strong as ever. Positioned himself exceptionally well and efficiently dealt with the dynamic movement of the City forwards.
Antonio Rudiger – 7
The German might’ve had one moment of horror when he almost presented the ball to Jesus in the box but got away with it. Dominated most of the aerial balls that Guardiola’s team attempted tonight.
Marcos Alonso – 7
The Spaniard put in an unusually composed display at the back tonight, as he didn’t get beaten by Mahrez on too many occasions. Calm in possession and played out from the back well.
Ross Barkley – 7.5
The Englishman put in quite the shift in the middle of the park and was perhaps unfortunate to have been substituted. Played some good forward balls and never stopped running.
N’Golo Kante – 7.5
Gave away the foul that led to the City goal, and also misplaced a couple of passes. Apart from that, the French stalwart was nothing short of rock-solid sitting in front of the Chelsea back-line.
Mason Mount – 7.5
The young Englishman was the Blues’ catalyst for advanced pressing, as he seemed to be a constant wave of energy in the middle of the park. Missed a glorious chance to grab a goal though.
Willian – 7.5
The Brazilian veteran was at the top of his game tonight in terms of using the ball, while he also worked extremely hard tracking back through the ninety. Stepped up and scored the winning penalty.
Olivier Giroud – 7
The big Frenchman held the ball up superbly all through the opening half, and also acted as the Blues’ first man while defending. Played some good passes to release the Chelsea wingers.
Christian Pulisic – 8
The American ace looked dangerous every time he got on the ball tonight and left Benjamin Mendy for dead on the lead up to the opener. Unfortunate not to get a second after rounding Ederson.
Substitutes

The Englishman came on and made an absolute nuisance of himself in the middle of the City defence line. Forced the ball towards Fernandinho ahead of his handball and the penalty award.
