January every alternate year brings the problem to clubs having the African players who being called up for their international duties as the Tournament are held. Next year January would bring the same problem and thus Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has already identified the player he would like to bring in when summer signing Sadio Mane would leave Anfield for his international duties. The player on his radar is Luciano Narsingh.
Having spent his youth career at Zeeburgia, AZ and Ajax, the winger joined the Heerenveen academy in 2006. After two years, he signed his first professional contract in 2008 and made his senior debut on October that year.
The player continued to make progress and after having assisted 20 goals in the Eredivisie in 2011/12, PSV shelled out the money to take him to the Philips Stadion in July 2012. Since his move to PSV, the player has continued to develop and established himself as the first team player in 2014/15. The winger has made 110 Eredivisie appearances for his club scoring 21 times and is one of the key players of the squad.
Blessed with exceptional pace and trickery, Narsingh is the kind of player who can beat a man and set up a teammate. Narsingh has the versatility to play on either of the wings and has the ability to thread in the killer passes as well when the opportunity arises. Liverpool under Klopp have really regained their attacking aura with the forward players doing exceptionally well in front of the goal.
The 4-3-3 employed by the German manager requires the forwards to have great pace and acceleration along with the movement, that is exactly what the PSV star possesses. The big plus of the winger is the fact that he is not selfish at all and is more likely to set up a teammate in a better position that going for goal himself which allows him to make a real impact upfront.
Having Narsingh in the team will definitely make a team a bigger threat attacking wise, especially on the break. However, the one problem which the 26-year-old does bring to the team is his lack of defensive contribution. The winger is not someone one can expect to cover his fullback or drop deep without the ball covering the space which leads to the defensive problems of his team.
If Klopp can get him to do his job upfront then he could be a real asset. Also, Narsingh might well be better suited to pressing his opposition up top rather than deep in his own half so he can do the off the ball work at Anfield to some extent.
It is reported that West Brom are also keen on the player as Tony Pulis wants him as the replacement of Saido Berahino. West Brom would be interesting for the player but there will be question marks over how he would fit in under Pulis who is known to be uncompromising on his players with their defensive duties.
It remains to be seen what happens in the end but there is no doubt that Luciano Narsingh is a very exciting player whom the fans would love to see in the Premier League and he can become a real deadly weapon under Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool.
