Real Madrid will play hosts to Eibar at Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano on Sunday hoping to resume their La Liga season with a win at home. Los Blancos are just two points behind Barcelona in the title race so they will be desperate to bag the precious three points versus José Luis Mendilibar this weekend. It should be easy work for the Madrid giants as Eibar were defeated in four out of their past matches before the football world came to a standstill because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Zinedine Zidane will opt for a 4-1-2-1-2 formation with Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema expected to spearhead his attack up top.
4-1-2-1-2 Real Madrid Predicted Lineup Vs Eibar
Defence
Thibaut Courtois will lineup in goal for the Madrid outfit as he looks to earn a clean sheet on his return to first-team action. Sergio Ramos will be expected to resume his centre-back partnership with Raphael Varane at the heart of Zidane’s backline. Both defenders will be hoping to keep things tight at the back by keeping the Eibar attackers at bay on Sunday.
Dani Carvajal is nailed-on to start as the right-back while Ferland Mendy looks to impress on the other side in the left-back position. Zidane will instruct his full-backs to press high up the pitch so that they can provide adequate support to the front players.
Midfield
Casemiro will anchor the midfield this weekend while both Toni Kroos and Federico Valverde operates just ahead of him as the box to box playmakers. Isco might get a chance to prove his worth as an advanced midfielder in the number ten position. The Spaniard will hope to create some decent openings for his teammates in the final third.
Both Marco Asensio and Luka Modric will have to settle for a spot on the bench but might get an opportunity to influence the game if needed.
Attack
Eden Hazard will be given the nod to lead the charge alongside Karim Benzema up top. The Belgian speedster could be asked to play as an auxiliary forward and share the goal-scoring workload with the French marksman this weekend. Both players will fancy their chances of finding the back of the net based on Eibar’s defensive record this season of conceding 41 goals in 27 league matches.
Vinicius Junior and Gareth Bale might be used as impact substitutes later in the game if Zidane decides to call upon their services.
