According to a recent report by the Guardian, Premier League giants Chelsea have been tipped to offload up to five players this summer, in a bid to get rid of any deadweight while also making space for incoming signings. The report suggests that Frank Lampard is keen on freshening up his attack-line and that the likes of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell and even Said Benrahma, are on the London club’s shortlist for the summer window. It claims that Lampard is also looking to add more ruthlessness to the side.
The fact that the West London club have struggled to deal with the summer departure of Eden Hazard could be the reasoning behind the futures of five Chelsea players being branded uncertain. These names are Jorginho, Emerson Palmieri, Marcos Alonso, Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi. While a couple of these aces are now indeed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, the others will likely still have important parts to play in the coming seasons of Premier League football.

Jorginho was brought into the Chelsea eleven by Maurizio Sarri in 2018, as he tried to create an initial impression on the side. The Belgian’s place in the Chelsea first-team has been under fire for quite a while now, and the potential acquisition of Timo Werner is sure to come as the final nail in the coffin. Unknowingly, Lampard brought the forward into the team when Abraham got injured earlier in the season, and his struggles were the main reason behind the gaffer reintroducing Olivier Giroud to the Chelsea fans. The Frenchman’s return to the eleven was a blessing in disguise, as it also highlighted to Lampard just how undependable an option Batshuayi actually is in reality.
