Jose Mourinho Vs Arsene Wenger. Arsenal Vs Manchester United. Mesut Ozil Vs Paul Pogba. Zlatan Ibrahimovic Vs Laurent Koscielny. The big picture along with the smaller sub-plots capable of being that much bigger will go on as we near the first United vs Arsenal match of the season.
Wenger’s old nemesis gears up to take on the Professor but this time as the manager of Manchester United, which raises the stakes a lot higher. Wenger is surely up against it, with his woeful record against the self-anointed Special One coupled with Arsenal’s sketchy record against the Red Devils.
But it is not all doom and gloom for them as form wise and standing wise, the Gunners are comfortably better off than Jose’s men. Arsenal have performed as was expected of them. Wenger had finally decided to move to bolster his defence, midfield and attack.
These new additions, along with the fairly settled squad have been solid and they have displayed a sense of urgency and the desire to win which has been traditionally lacking in them for the last few years.
A lot of credit goes to Wenger due to his willingness to stick to his methods of building a team which looks like they are ready to challenge for the title this season.
T4O’S PREDICTED ARSENAL LINE-UP VS MANCHESTER UNITED (4-2-3-1)
DEFENCE
Petr Cech has become as much a loved figure as he was Chelsea and it is down to his leadership qualities along with his performances which are eerily consistent. He will be tasked with keeping the Arsenal goal safe.
Hector Bellerin would want to celebrate his bumper long-term contract extension with a good display at right-back but in case he is unable to get fit before the contest, Carl Jenkinson will come into contention.
Koscielny and Mustafi have been rocks at the back and have struck up an excellent partnership and will be confident of keeping the likes of Ibrahimovic and Pogba at bay. Nacho Monreal is on a fine run of form and will be buoyed by his goal for Spain.
