With the impending takeover looming, Newcastle United should not only try to rope in the best of the recognised names but also some of the most talented youngsters of Europe to build a team for the future. So far it seems like they are heading in the right direction with the Magpies now vying for the signature of Ilyes Zouaoui.
Daily Mail reports that the Premier League side would be looking to bring the highly-rated player to England next season with Borussia Dortmund and Juventus also being interested. The report says that Greek side Olympiakos are also in contention to sign the youngster.
Who is Ilyes Zouaoui?
The Marseille winger has made waves among the top clubs with an astounding figure of scoring 15 goals and 14 assists in just 16 games for the French U-18 side. Primarily playing in the left side, the starlet can also play in other positions of the frontline.
He has a devastating right foot which helps him to take lethal shots after cutting in from the wings. Zouaoui is also an extremely composed footballer for a boy of his age, and it is believed with age, this maturity would enhance further, making him a complete footballer.
Why should he join Newcastle United?
The French talent would be headed straight to the youth setup of the club at this moment. However, the forward would like to believe that Newcastle could bring to St James’ Park some of the names that they have been linked with. A new ambitious owner means that the infrastructure of the club would be redesigned and the player would be able to reap the benefits of that.
Also, the fact that the club is linked to Mauricio Pochettino for the role of the manager would excite the young prospect as the Argentine gaffer is famed for his knack to develop youth prospects. Under the former Spurs boss, the Marseille man would undoubtedly be taken good care of and given ample opportunities to shine.
Another factor that would cross the youngster’s mind if he decides to sign for the Toon would be the presence of Allan Saint-Maximin in the squad. The French winger arrived from France to Newcastle last summer and has already done some excellent job for the club. Zouaoui could look to emulate the career path of the former Nice man and even surpass his achievements. The young gun would get Maximin as his mentor to develop himself even further.
