The Premier League has been graced with legendary strikers over the years and while the out and out world-class players might have seen a slight dip in numbers with the likes of Suarez and Van Persie exiting in recent years. We still have the likes of Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa, who are the most feared frontmen in Europe.
With the teams becoming more and more balanced and with the difference in quality not always enough to carve out a sure shot win over the 90 minutes every time, there have been some players who have not been able to perform to the desired levels.
Let us take a look at 3 strikers who haven’t yet lived up to the expectations this season.
FERNANDO LLORENTE (SWANSEA CITY)
The Spanish striker was Swansea’s record transfer for a short period of time before they broke it in the same window for Borja Baston. While both of them have been underwhelming so far, Llorente has had enough opportunities to settle in his new surroundings but has miserably failed to do so.
And because if the fact that Swansea took a huge gamble of going for the two Spaniards to beef up the attack, their failure has also hit the team hard, as the Swans currently lie in the 19th spot with no solution in sight.
Llorente has scored a single goal in 9 matches and it is nowhere near the numbers or impact expected from him.
