According to ESPN, Arsenal are keen on signing PSG whizkid Adil Aouchiche. The young midfielder is tipped to leave the French capital in the summer, with his current contract expiring at the end of June. Saint-Etienne, Bordeaux and LOSC Lille have already been linked with a move for Aouchiche, with Arsenal being the latest club to join the chase.
The report states that Aouchiche’s family is demanding a signing fee of €4 million with a €25k per week salary. And from a financial perspective, the Gunners might have the upper hand over their French rivals.
Who is Adil Aouchiche?
A product of the PSG youth academy, Aouchiche has been making waves in French football with his talent and performances in the youth competitions. He was already promoted to the club’s senior side last summer, making his Ligue 1 debut in back in August 2019. He has also featured in two games for PSG in Coupe de France, notably scoring his first professional goal against Linas-Montlhery.
However, Aouchiche has spent the majority of his time playing for PSG’s U-19 side. He starred in the UEFA Youth League, being involved in three goals in four matches while he has also been a regular for France’s U-18 team, having made 18 appearances.
Aouchiche’s promising performances at the highest level of football have made him one of the most highly-rated youngsters in France. An attacking midfielder by trade, the 17-year-old is indeed a star in the making, boasting exquisite footwork that allows him to drift past opposing defenders.
The Frenchman is primarily known for his dynamism and quick inter-play, making him quite similar to Borussia Dortmund star Julian Brandt. And with his contract at PSG running out, the youngster will have an ideal opportunity to take the next step in his career.
Arsenal are keen on signing PSG whizkid Adil Aouchiche: Why Emirates is the ideal destination
Despite Aouchiche’s lack of experience in professional football, he fits Arsenal’s recent transfer policy of scouring the market for talented young footballers. In recent years, they have already unearthed gems like Matteo Guendouzi and Gabriel Martinelli, both of whom have gone on to make an impact in the first-team.
But on a more important note, Aouchiche will have a significant chance of making a breakthrough due to the club’s current situation in the attacking department. Ageing playmaker Mesut Ozil hasn’t been particularly impactful over the past couple of years while Henrikh Mkhitaryan seems to be enjoying life in Serie A.
It could pave the way for Aouchiche to make a name for himself in that number ten slot next season. Not only that but the Frenchman will also have the opportunity to prove his credentials in one of the most competitive leagues in the world. And for just €4 million, he could be a bargain signing for Arsenal as well, thus making this, a beneficial deal for all parties involved.
