Arsenal went into the international break in a frustrating manner with a draw against Tottenham Hotspur which pulled them down to the 4th place with Liverpool and Chelsea winning. The Gunners also went into the break apprehending the November curse which has seen the club dropping the most number of points in the month.
Also, the curse has already started with their star defender Hector Bellerin injured for the whole of November.
With Arsenal visiting Manchester United just after the break, Wenger would be having sleeping nights. They already had an early scare about Alexis Sanchez’s low-grade muscle injury even before the World Cup qualifiers began.
However, Alexis Sanchez is up and running and training with Chile and hopefully, won’t be risked in the friendly match. Mesut Ozil has been excluded from the squad to the huge relief of Arsenal fans.
Barring a few, most remained unused or late subs on the international duty.
The list includes the likes of David Ospina, Olivier Giroud, Shkodran Mustafi, Theo Walcott and many more. However, there were few who dazzled in the WC qualification round.
Nacho Monreal
After sitting out for two matches with injury, Nacho Monreal had come back to the Arsenal squad to face Tottenham and was the best among the back four in the match.
It seems he was also the best in Spain back four on Saturday’s game against Macedonia where the left-back scored the best goal in the 4 goal win.
It was his first goal for his country with six minutes left in Granada, connecting well to a deep cross from fellow full-back Dani Carvajal. Spain retained their lead in the Group G lead but they are surely wary of their fierce rival Italy who also won with a 4-0 margin.
