In a recent tweet, renowned journalist Nicolo Schira claimed that Real Madrid are set to battle with Inter Milan in pursuit of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero this summer. However, in the same tweet, Schira also mentioned that the Citizens have no intention of letting the Argentine forward leave in this off-season.
No Talks between #Napoli and Sergio #Agüero. #RealMadrid and #Inter have asked infos to his agent in the last days, but #ManCity don’t want to sell El Kun. #transfers #MCFC

Aguero’s Incredible Career At Man City
Aguero has firmly established himself as a legend for Man City since making a switch from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011. He has gone on to register 254 goals and 72 assists in 368 appearances for the Mancunian giants so far.
The Argentine sensation has enjoyed another prolific campaign in the Premier League after producing a series of match-winning displays under the stewardship of Pep Guardiola so far. He has banged in 23 goals and provided three assists in 30 matches for Man City this term across all fronts which highlight his remarkable consistency in terms of goal-scoring when leading the charge down the middle.
Aguero had averaged 3.2 shots, 0.8 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League this season before the football world came to an unexpected standstill because of the recent COVID-19 pandemic (stats via whoscored).
The 31-year-old also holds a fantastic international record for Argentina but is yet to win a major trophy with his country. He has netted 41 goals in 97 games for the Argentine national team and will once again be expected to play a vital role for his homeland when the Copa America kicks off at the end of next season.
What Makes The Argentine International Such A Lethal Goal-Getter?
Even though Aguero is the wrong side of his 30s and has lost a yard of pace from his game, yet he can still run the channels using his football intelligence and has a knack to find space in and around the opposition penalty area. The Argentine is an unforgiving finisher in the final third as he can bury his fair share of goal-scoring chances that fall in his path. He is also a leader on the field and can inspire his teammates to get the best out of them when they are not firing on all cylinders going forward.
Is It Time For Man City To Part Ways With Aguero This Summer?
However, at 31, one can’t help but wonder whether Aguero can continue to score goals at such a high rate in the coming seasons. He has shown no signs of deterioration this season. Still, the possibility of Man City being banned from all UEFA competitions for the next two years could hamper their chances of keeping Aguero happy at the Etihad Stadium.
With the Argentine marksman’s contract set to run out at the end of next season, Pep Guardiola will have a big decision on his hands over whether to cash in on Aguero this summer so that he can get some money in for his services. Otherwise, the Spanish head coach will have to risk losing his star striker for nothing when he becomes a free agent next year.
For now, the Citizens would be better of retaining Aguero’s services for at least another season as he could turn out to be the difference between them winning the Premier League title or not in the upcoming campaign.
