Rangers have improved immensely under Steven Gerrard and punched way above their weight in Europe, knocking down the heavyweights one after another. But they must go for the glory now and draw an end to Celtic’s almost decade-long dominance in the domestic circuit by conquering the Premiership crown.
While they must be working behind the scenes to bolster the squad for the upcoming term, the latest story from the Daily Record is alarming though which suggests Premier League interest in their highly-rated shot-stopped Robby McCrorie. West Ham United are reportedly on the lookout for a young custodian to succeed veteran Łukasz Fabiański for years to come, and the 22-year-old Scotsman is now in the Hammers’ wishlist following an impressive loan spell at Livingston before the lockdown.

Robby, as well as his twin brother Ross, have progressed through the youth ranks of the Gers and enjoyed ample first-team minutes this season on a temporary transfer elsewhere. They are supposed to make it big at Ibrox but, at the same time, should be handed a regular role right away to secure their future.
Although Ross’ versatility should eventually see him grabbing an integral status in the senior set-up, the towering presence of Allan McGregor between the sticks might delay his brother’s ‘number 1’ slot for at least a year more. Despite being in his late thirties, the former Scotland international has been majestic in a second stint at his boyhood club and therefore, remains irreplaceable at this moment despite McCrorie’s emergence over the past few months.
The youngster has represented Scotland at various youth levels and was loaned out to Queen of the South last summer to gain some senior experience in the second tier of Scottish football. But he was called back in January before being shipped to Livi to experience the Premiership standard.

Rangers, meanwhile, are set to lose two of their keepers in Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick at the end of the current campaign. Contracts won’t be renewed for the pair, and McCrorie thus is tipped to be promoted as the understudy to McGregor.
West Ham, on the other hand, have three more custodians in Darren Randolph, David Martin and on-loan Roberto to cover Fabiański. None of them, however, have exhibited enough composure in goal to earn David Moyes’ trust and the gaffer is now aiming for a long-term replacement of the 35-year-old Poland international.
McCrorie fits the bill and ticks many boxes to meet the expectations, and it is to be seen now how Gerrard blocks the potential exit of his prized asset during the summer window.
