Jose Mourinho is reportedly eyeing a shock move for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil. The German international has been negotiating a contract renewal with the club but nothing has been finalized yet.
Ozil is currently the highest paid player at the club with a weekly wage of £140,000 and has a contract till 2017/18.
Ozil’s demand of a pay rise compelled the North London club to offer him an improved contract which was in the tune of £160,000 a week but the German playmaker turned it down.
Mourinho was responsible in bringing Ozil from Werder Bremen to Real Madrid after watching his performance in the 2010 World Cup while he was the manager of the Spanish team.
Ozil spent three seasons with The Los Blancos before making a switch to England. Ozil recently admitted that he snubbed Arsenal at that time as he was very eager to play under the Portuguese.
United are reportedly willing to offer £250,000, much more than what Arsenal have offered. If Arsenal fails to fulfill Ozil’s demand there is an outside chance of him joining their archrivals.
