According to a recent exclusive report by Calcio Mercato, Serie A giants Juventus have been revealed to be long-time admirers of Manchester City’s Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus. It has been suggested that the Serie A side could eventually make a move for him, with the Brazilian a part of a reported transfer wish-list, which also includes Inter Milan’s Argentine striker Mauro Icardi. Juventus are said to believe that more than the fee itself, it could be Guardiola’s will to keep him that poses the biggest challenge to their advances.
It has been suggested in the report that Juventus’ Fabio Paratici has been a follower of Gabriel Jesus right from his early days at Palmeiras when Manchester City swooped to sign him from right under the noses of Italian side Inter Milan. The report further claims that Jesus initially chose Manchester City because of a personal call from Guardiola and that the Spaniard believes we still haven’t seen the Brazilian exhibit his full potential since that move.
What Does Gabriel Jesus Offer To This City Side?
The Brazilian international is one of the most promising young strikers in not just the Premier League, but also in the whole of Europe. The former Palmeiras man is at his absolute best inside the box, where he tends to showcase cat-like reactions from set-piece situations. Adept at linking up with his fellow attackers and creating openings for them as well, Jesus is probably one of the more unselfish strikers in the modern-day game.
The forward has proven on various occasions this season that he’s got what it takes to take over the reins of the City striking role from Sergio Aguero in the long-run. In fact, the attacker’s displays have been so good that Guardiola even resorted to playing him as one of the wingers towards the latter part of the league season. An excellent finisher in and around the box, the forward does have the potential to become one of the best strikers in the world in the years to come.
How Has Gabriel Jesus’ Season Gone?
The Brazilian probably didn’t start the season expecting to play in quite as many games as he’s actually done, owing mainly to the fact that Sergio Aguero picked up small injuries as usual. Guardiola though, seemed to have a different plan, as the amount of rotation that he added to the side was unexpected. Having tested the Brazilian’s versatility as well, it’s now been proven that Jesus has the potential to develop into one of the most influential Manchester City players of the decade.
Why Pep Cannot Afford To Sell Jesus This Summer?
The 22-year-old, despite being the second-choice striker, played in 24 league fixtures this season and even managed to notch up an impressive return of 10 goals. The Brazilian has gradually begun to display his real quality, and it’s safe to say that there’s still a lot to come from Gabriel Jesus.
Although a move to Juventus to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo could prove to be too much to pass up on, the fact remains that the best thing for the attacker’s career development would be to stay at City for as long as Pep Guardiola is the manager. The Spaniard, therefore, is effectively guaranteed to offer the required degree of resistance, if a bid eventually does come from the side of the Old Lady this summer.
