According to Todo Fichajes, Arsenal have completed the signing of Layvin Kurzawa. The PSG star is expected to join the Gunners in the summer in a free transfer after failing to agree to a new contract with the French outfit. The move will be made official in the summer, however.
In this article, we will talk about three things Kurzawa will bring to this Arsenal team next season.
Dynamism on the flanks
Arsenal’s first-choice left-back Kieran Tierney is undoubtedly a talented individual. His technical prowess elevates his side’s effectiveness during the possession phases. But, the presence of Kurzawa on the left flank could add more bite into the Arsenal side that has lacked incision and productivity from their wide players.
Comfortable in a left wingback role as well, the PSG star is known for his aggressive style of play, which is combined with his ability to provide offensive support in the final third. He can, therefore, offer more tactical options for Mikel Arteta, who has clearly lacked resources during his short time in charge of the Gunners.
At the same time, it could pave the way for Sead Kolasinac for a move away from Emirates. The Bosnian has been unlucky with injuries and leaving Arsenal looks like the logical option.
Experience and winning mentality
Even though Kurzawa has not played a lot of football over the past couple of years, it would be foolish to undermine his experience. The left-back has made 123 competitive appearances for PSG and has played in a total of 150 Ligue 1 matches. His experience at the highest level of football could add more composure to the Arsenal backline.
Moreover, the Frenchman has won three Ligue 1 titles and three French league cups during his time at PSG. He could, therefore, instil a winning mentality to the Arsenal side that has not only lacked ambition but has also underperformed over the past five years or so.
Answers on the left flank
Kurzawa can definitely provide Arteta with a reliable alternative for Tierney at left-back. But, the PSG ace is a potential answer to the entirety of the left flank as he can play anywhere across that side of the pitch.
Kurzawa’s presence in the side will allow Arteta to stop using Bukayo Saka in a defensive role, giving him an additional option in the final third. The Frenchman himself can also play in an attacking role, making it much easier for the Arsenal boss to accommodate him into the starting lineup.
It could serve as a boon for Arteta, especially when it comes to squad rotation, which is essential necessary given the demanding footballing schedule in England.
