The football right now might have stopped, but that wouldn’t surely stop clubs from plotting and planning for the upcoming transfer window. Barcelona legend Xavi in the meantime has suggested his former side to sign Borussia Dortmund’s winger Jadon Sancho. The Spaniard also took the names of Serge Gnabry and Neymar.
Xavi’s suggestion for Barcelona
Xavi recently said (Metro), “I would sign wingers. Players like Neymar – I don’t know if he would fit because of the social aspect, in a football sense, I have no doubts he would be a spectacular signing. Barcelona have good players through the middle, but they lack wingers like the ones Bayern have. They don’t need a lot of new players: maybe Jadon Sancho, Serge Gnabry.”
In this article we are going to talk about Jadon Sancho as his departure from Germany looks very much on the cards this summer. The winger has attracted interest from almost all the top English clubs, but we believe that Barcelona should also have a look at him in the summer.
Why should Setien consider Sancho’s signing?
The club is yet to find a proper replacement for Neymar ever since he left the club in 2017. Big money signings like Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezmann have failed to meet expectations at the club. Hence, we are expecting the Blaugrana to go after a new attacker in the upcoming summer.
Sancho is definitely worth considering as he could be a lot cheaper option than Neymar. Moreover, the Dortmund ace has age on his side, and he could go on to play for years for Barcelona as the England international is just 20-year-old.
The former Manchester City winger is primarily a right-winger, but he is equally capable of playing down the left or even as a no. 10. Sancho has faced some controversy off the pitch regarding his behaviour and transfer talks, but his performances have been sublime on the field. In 23 Bundesliga appearances this campaign, Sancho has 14 goals and 16 assists to his name.
He has terrific pace and dribbling skills and the Englishman can go past defenders for fun. However, what makes him stand out is his ability to make the right decision in the final third. Often young wingers are criticised for not having the final product to their game, but Sancho looks like a matured player even though he is just 20.
He might need some time to adjust to the Barcelona system, but he certainly has the potential to be the world’s best in a few years. The Catalan giants should certainly consider Xavi’s advise and sign the Englishman to bolster their attacking options.
