Manchester City will entertain Burnley at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League. The Citizens will come into this contest on the back of a 2-0 derby defeat at the hands of Manchester United last weekend.
Pep Guardiola will stick with his favoured 4-3-3 formation and might make a few tweaks to his first-team for this home clash against the Clarets.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup Vs Burnley
Defence
Ederson will retain his place in goal for Man City despite shipping in two cheap goals versus the Red Devils in the Manchester derby last weekend. Guardiola might look to offer Eric Garcia a start alongside Fernandinho at the heart of the Citizens backline. They will look to keep Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez in check on Saturday.
Benjamin Mendy will get the nod to operate in the left-back position while Kyle Walker looks to put his pace to good use on the other side as the right-back. Guardiola will ask both his full-backs to push high up the field so that they can create some clear-cut opportunities for the front three.
Midfield
David Silva, Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne will make up the home team’s midfield this weekend. The talented trio will look to keep the ball moving at the middle of the park so that they can cook up some decent openings in the final third. Rodri will also focus on providing adequate cover for the Man City backline so that his teammates are not left exposed on the break.
Both Phil Foden and Ilkay Gundogan were disappointing against the Red Devils last weekend, so they might have to be content with a place on the bench.
Attack
The Citizens frontline will be composed of Gabriel Jesus and Riyad Mahrez hoping to stretch the pitch out on the flanks while Sergio Aguero spearheads the Man City attack down the middle. Guardiola will instruct his front three to be more clinical in front of the opposition goal after his side put in a lacklustre offensive display versus Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men last Sunday.
Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva will be available on the bench as they await their chance to come on as the impact substitutes during the game if required.
