Rangers returned to winning ways on the domestic front as they went past Ross County to win 1-0. Gerrard and his men have enjoyed playing on big European nights throughout this season, and they will continue their adventure when they host Bayer Leverkusen at Ibrox this week.
It has been tough to explain Rangers’ predicament this campaign as they have struggled domestically but have punched above their weight in Europe. Leverkusen are currently 4th in the Bundesliga and are unbeaten in their last five league games. Hence, many would expect the German side to go through, but Gerrard and his men will once again look to defy the odds.
Team News: Filip Helander is back in training. It remains to be seen whether he would be drafted in the matchday squad and more importantly in the starting eleven in such a big game straightaway. Ryan Jack, James Tavernier and Jermain Defoe are all doubtful as well. All three are likely to be assessed closer to the matchday.

Defence
Allan McGregor might have to play a significant part in goal in this big tie. The veteran should start again. Borna Barisic has been one of the few consistent performers defensively this season, and he should keep his place at left-back.
George Edmundson has been one of the better defenders for Rangers of late, and the youngster will be expected to feature at centre back. The other spot could be a dilemma for Gerrard. If Helander is match fit, then he might be in line to start, but he has barely played a competitive fixture in the last few months. Hence, the gaffer might once again go with Connor Goldson in defence. With James Tavernier being a doubt, Matt Polster will likely start at right-back.
Midfield
Steven Davis will be expected to play in a deep role in midfield. We are hoping Ryan Jack will recover and start in the middle as well. The other midfield spot could go to Joe Aribo who can produce the moment of magic from time to time.
Attack
Ryan Kent has been slated for his displays this season, but he has scored two crucial goals off late. The English winger should start on the left flank. Ianis Hagi has emerged as a vital player since his arrival, and he should be a nailed-on starter on the right-wing. Goals have dried up for Alfredo Morelos since the break. Hence, Florian Kamberi might be in contention to start, but we believe that Gerrard is likely to go with the Colombian upfront.
