Manchester City will play hosts to Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night hoping to claim all three points in front of their home supporters. The Citizens will come into this game on the back of a dismal 2-0 defeat against Manchester United last weekend.
Pep Guardiola is expected to stick with his preferred 4-3-3 formation and might make a few changes to his side for this highly-anticipated Premier League encounter versus his protege, Mikel Arteta’s team.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup Vs Arsenal
Defence
Ederson should keep his place in goal for the Citizens despite conceding two cheap goals versus the Red Devils in the Manchester derby last weekend. Guardiola might offer Eric Garcia a chance to impress alongside Fernandinho at the centre of the Man City backline. They will look to keep Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in check on Wednesday night.
Benjamin Mendy is a nailed-on starter in the left-back position while Kyle Walker operates on the other side as the right-back. Guardiola will instruct both his full-backs to push high up the pitch so that they can provide enough support to the front players.
Midfield
The talented trio of David Silva, Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne will make up the Man City midfield in midweek. All three of them will look to keep the ball moving at the centre of the park so that they can orchestrate some promising chances for the frontline. Rodri will also be responsible for protecting the Citizens backline so that they are not left exposed on the break.
Both Phil Foden and Ilkay Gundogan were disappointing against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men last weekend, so they will have to settle for a place on the bench.
Attack
The Citizens frontline will be comprised of Gabriel Jesus and Riyad Mahrez trying to put their pace to good use out on the flanks while Sergio Aguero leads the line down the middle. All three Man City attackers will need to be at their best after shooting blanks versus their crosstown rivals on Sunday.
Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva might be demoted to the bench as they await their opportunity to come on as the impact substitutes during the game in midweek.
