Everton faced off against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier this afternoon hoping to pull off an upset on the road. The Toffees were poor in the first half as they struggled to create anything meaningful going forward. Mason Mount opened the goal-scoring for the home side in the 14th minute before Pedro doubled his team’s advantage just seven minutes later. The Blues went into the half-time break with a healthy two-goal lead.
Willian found the back of the net with a powerful strike in the 51st minute. Olivier Giroud put the icing on the cake just three minutes later when he scored with a fine finish from close range. The contest ended with Carlo Ancelotti’s men suffering a brutal 4-0 win at West London.
Let’s take a look at how each Everton player fared during the contest against the Blues.
Everton Players Rated In Brutal Loss Vs Chelsea
GK: Jordan Pickford – 7/10
The English keeper made some decent stops to keep the scoreline respectable. However, he will be far from happy after shipping in four goals during the game.
RB: Djibril Sidibé – 4/10
He put in a lacklustre display down the right flank. Sidibe looked defensively vulnerable and failed to create anything of note going forward.
CB: Michael Keane – 5/10
The Toffees centre-back struggled to cope with Olivier Giroud’s physicality and was completely outclassed by the Frenchman today. He will be hoping for better days in an Everton shirt.
CB: Mason Holgate – 4/10
The English defender put in a stinker of a performance during the 90 minutes. He lacked pace and was often caught out of position which left his teammates exposed at the back.
LB: Lucas Digne – 5/10
The French talent was far from his best as he put in forgettable display on the left side of the Everton defence.
RM: Bernard – 4/10
The Brazilian was disappointing in the first 45 minutes and got subbed at half-time after picking up an injury.
CM: Andre Gomes – 5/10
He worked hard but was nowhere near the level of the Chelsea midfielders. The Portuguese playmaker needs to find some consistency with his performances every week or else risk getting dropped.
CM: Tom Davies – 5/10
The Toffees midfield ace ran around the pitch without any purpose and lacked sharpness when he got on the ball. He got replaced close to the hour mark.
LM: Gylfi Sigurdsson – 4.5/10
The Icelandic international was an anonymous figure in the opposition half as he failed to influence the game going forward.
ST: Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 5/10
The English striker worked his socks off but was guilty of missing a great opportunity to drag his side back into the contest.
ST: Richarlison – 5/10
The Brazilian forward was starved of any clear-cut chances after Frank Lampard’s defenders neutralised his threat during the game.
Substitutes:
RM: Theo Walcott – 5/10
He didn’t offer much after coming on at half-time.
ST: Moise Kean – 5/10
The ex-Juventus youngster struggled to get into the game.
ST: Anthony Gordon – 5/10
The Everton academy graduate hardly had any time to make an impact, but he would be happy to get some first-team minutes under his belt.
