Everton will face off against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday hoping to pull off an upset on the road. The Toffees will come into this game on the back of a 1-1 draw versus Manchester United at the start of this month. Carlo Ancelotti will hope that his players can put on another good show in the Premier League this weekend.
The Italian tactician will opt for a 4-4-2 formation and could make one change to his starting XI for this upcoming encounter at West London.
4-4-2 Everton Predicted Lineup Vs Chelsea
Defence
Jordan Pickford will continue to play in between the sticks for the Merseyside club despite failing to keep a clean sheet in each of his past six starts in the Premier League. Yerry Mina could get the nod to start alongside Mason Holgate at the heart of the Toffees backline. Michael Keane will have to settle for a spot on the bench but might get a chance to make an impact in the game if required.
Lucas Digne is a slight doubt for this match. If the French defender can recover in time, then he would be a nailed-on starter in the left-back position. Otherwise, we can expect to see Leighton Baines get another start this weekend. Djibril Sidibe will operate on the other side as the right-back as he looks to cook up some decent chances going forward.
Ancelotti will instruct his defenders to maintain a good defensive shape so that they can keep the Chelsea attackers quiet on Sunday.
Midfield
Andre Gomes and Tom Davies will anchor Ancelotti’s midfield as they focus on stopping the opposition from dominating the ball at the middle of the park. Gylfi Sigurdsson will fill in on the left while Theo Walcott hopes to put his pace to good use down the right flank.
The Toffees need to win the 50-50 midfield battles if they are to stand a chance of getting a result at Stamford Bridge this weekend. However, it won’t be easy against a Chelsea side that have scored six goals in their past three domestic matches.
Attack
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will share the goal-scoring workload with Richarlison up top. Both forwards have been amongst the goals for the Merseyside outfit in recent weeks so they will fancy their chances of finding the back of the net when they travel to the English capital later this week.
Both Bernard and Moise Kean will make up the numbers on the Everton bench.
