Celtic faced off against Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena earlier tonight hoping to pick another victory on the road. The Hoops dominated possession for major periods of the first half and took the lead via Callum McGregor’s goal in the 16th minute. However, Jon Guthrie equalised for the home side with his strike from close range. Both teams went into the half-time break with nothing to split them.
Livingston made a dream start to the second 45 minutes when they grabbed the lead courtesy of Scott Robinson’s goal. However, the Hoops managed to find an injury-time goal when Tom Rogic scored with a right-footed finish. The contest ended with both sides sharing the spoils after playing out an entertaining 2-2 draw at West Lothian.
Let’s take a look at how each Celtic player fared during the match against Livingston.
Celtic Players Rated In Entertaining Draw Vs Livingston
GK: Fraser Forster – 4/10
The Hoops goalie was at fault for conceding Livingston’s equaliser in the first half. He ended up letting in two goals tonight which will disappoint Neil Lennon.
CB: Nir Bitton – 6.5/10
He performed at a high level throughout the 90 minutes. Bitton was calm on the ball and was always willing to drive his team forward.
CB: Kristoffer Ajer – 6/10
He put in a decent shift at the heart of the Celtic defence but won’t be happy after allowing two goals during the game.
CB: Christopher Jullien – 4/10
The French defender began the match quite well as he put in a commanding display before the half-time break. However, he was responsible for allowing Lyndon Dykes to go past him in the lead-up to Robinson’s goal early in the second half. Jullien made another high-profile error late in the game, but it went unpunished.
LWB: Greg Taylor – 5/10
The 22-year-old got into some dangerous positions in behind the Livingston defence but was often poor with his final delivery. He worked hard but had no end product to show for his efforts.
CM: Scott Brown – 6/10
The Scottish midfielder was quite effective in breaking down some of the opposition attacks in the first 45. However, his performance in the second half was quite underwhelming as he struggled to gain control at the centre of the park.
CM: Callum McGregor – 7.5/10
He opened the goal-scoring with a fine strike and made some darting runs in the opposition half. McGregor was always willing to get involved and was a bright spark in Lennon’s midfield.
CM: Ryan Christie – 6/10
Christie covered a lot of ground in midfield and showed the hunger to get on the ball. However, he lacked the cutting edge in the final third.
RWB: James Forrest – 5/10
He struggled to create any meaningful chances going forward and put in a disjointed performance down the right flank.
ST: Odsonne Edouard – 7/10
The French forward had a frustrating game, but he didn’t let his head drop and stepped up to make a difference in the dying embers of the contest when he made a driving run to set-up Rogic’s late equaliser.
ST: Mohamed Elyounoussi – 6/10
He showed some glimpses of what he is capable of out on the wide areas. However, like many of his teammates, he failed to make a decisive contribution in front of the opposition goal.
Substitutes:
CM: Tom Rogic – 7/10
The Australian playmaker came off the bench to rescue a point for his side in injury-time.
LWB: Jeremie Frimpong – 5/10
He came on just after the hour mark to replace Taylor but couldn’t manage to create anything of note in the opposition half.
ST: Leigh Griffiths – 5/10
He hardly got involved in the game.
