Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton fell to their first league defeat since the beginning of January after the exciting encounter against North London side Arsenal ended with a 3-2 scoreline. The Toffees put Mikel Arteta under a lot of pressure by scoring within the opening minute of the tie, but the Gunners reacted exceptionally well. Although the Merseyside club had multiple opportunities to level things up, some stellar work from Leno in the Arsenal goal ensured that the Toffees went home with nothing to show for their trip to London.

Jordan Pickford – 6
The Englishman wasn’t directly at fault for any of the Arsenal goals but should’ve probably made himself bigger on a couple of occasions. Collected well from set-pieces though.
Djibril Sidibé – 6.5
Tried to get forward whenever the opportunity presented itself and did well to win his team a couple of much-needed corners. Worked hard at the back and looks set in the wing-back role.
Yerry Mina – 7
The former Barcelona man put in a solid display for most of the fixture but arguably should’ve read the run being made by Aubameyang for the Gunners’ second goal on the night.
Mason Holgate – 6
Had a frightening moment in the first-half where he was almost caught out, but did well to recover and find the required pass. Moved the ball around nicely and stepped up whenever needed.
Leighton Baines – 6
The veteran full-back wasn’t at his usual attacking best, owing largely to the fact that he was up against Nicolas Pepe for most of the night. Defended effectively for the most part though.
Alex Iwobi – 6
Should’ve stopped the pass that led to the Aubameyang goal, but had some decent attacking moments against his former club. Chose to shoot instead of passing on a couple of occasions.
Morgan Schneiderlin – 6
The midfield star picked up an unnecessary booking in the first half but moved the ball around effectively throughout the ninety. Surely has a part to play in the coming weeks.
Fabian Delph – 5.5
The former Manchester City man struggled to keep the Toffees’ possession flowing, as he carelessly lost the ball on a couple of occasions. Didn’t look up to the pace of the game early on.
Gylfi Sigurdsson – 5.5
The Icelandic international midfielder struggled to have any impact on the fixture, owing mainly to the fact that he was never able to get quite up to the pace of the Arsenal attackers.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 7
The youngster did extremely well to score within the opening minutes of the game and worked hard over the course of the fixture as well. Came inches away from bagging another in the second half.
Richarlison – 7.5
The Brazilian was undoubtedly the Toffees’ biggest attacking threat against the Gunners, and he showcased that by displaying killer instincts in the lead up to his goal.

Great to see the former Barcelona midfielder back in action after the horror injury he picked up against Spurs. Dominated the midfield area with his passing after coming on.
Bernard – 6
Tried to move Everton forward in the late stages, but wasn’t able to create too much due to the lack of pace when compared to the young Arsenal full-backs.
