Manchester United will entertain Watford at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon looking to pick up a win in front of their home supporters. The Red Devils will come into this clash on the back of a 1-1 draw versus Club Brugge in the UEFA Europa League. So the Hornets could prove to be a tricky test for them as they had the whole week to prepare for this encounter.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could revert to a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make a few changes to his first-team for this weekend.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup Vs Watford
Defence
David De Gea will operate in goal for the Mancunian outfit after being rested against Club Brugge in midweek. Eric Bailly could come into the side to feature alongside Harry Maguire at the heart of Solskjaer’s defence. Both centre-backs will try to keep things tidy at the back by keeping Watford’s Troy Deeney in check this weekend.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a nailed-on starter at right-back while Luke Shaw lines up on the other side as the left-back. Both Man United full-backs will focus on getting forward as much as possible so that they can provide adequate support to the front players.
Midfield
Nemanja Matic and Fred will assume the duties of the holding midfielders. Their job would be to keep the ball moving in midfield and provide enough protection for the Man United backline. The talented trio of Daniel James, Bruno Fernandes and Juan Mata will play just ahead of them as part of the Red Devils attack.
Fernandes will carry most of the creative burden while operating in the number ten position while both James and Mata provide support out on the flanks. Jesse Lingard will once again have to settle for a spot on the bench.
Attack
Anthony Martial will lead the line for the home side up top. The French striker has scored two goals in his past two starts so he will fancy his chances of putting in another goal-scoring display against the Hornets on Sunday.
Mason Greenwood is a significant doubt for this home game, but Odion Ighalo will be available for selection on Solskjaer’s bench.
