According to a recent report by Turkish news outlet Fotospor, Premier League outfit Crystal Palace could end up losing the services of their Norwegian international striker Alexander Sorloth in the summer, with the likes of Brighton and Hove Albion and Newcastle United said to be keen on the forward’s signature. Despite being an Eagles player for more than two years now, the 24-year-old is yet to have any real impact.
While the Norwegian is on loan at Trabzonspor until the end of the 2020/21 season, the aforementioned clubs have all been alerted by the impressive form he’s been showcasing since the move to Turkey. It has also been suggested that the Turkish club have the rights of first refusal on the player and that they could even exercise an option to sign him permanently in the upcoming summer.

The Norwegian international striker joined Crystal Palace from European minnows Midtjylland in the winter of 2018. Despite still being only 24, saying that his first couple of seasons as a Palace player were unsuccessful would not be a massive understatement. The attacker was initially brought in on a four and a half year deal in 2018, with the transfer supposedly costing the Eagles in the region of £9m.
The then 22-year-old forward had scored an impressive 15 goals in 26 league games for Midtjylland that campaign, and that’s what prompted the Eagles to make a move for him in the winter window. Having arrived with massive expectations, the youngster struggled to live up to the standard required at a high-profile Premier League club like Crystal Palace.
Also, breaking into a team with players like Christian Benteke, Jordan Ayew and Wilfried Zaha all fighting for the same position was always going to be a difficult task for the Norwegian. The striker has played in a total of 20 fixtures for the London club, picking up a miserable tally of one goal and one assist for all of his efforts. The Palace chiefs were quick to ship the youngster out to Trabzonspor, ahead of the start of the current league campaign.

The tall and leggy striker was brought into the side for a relatively nominal fee of £9m. Although the youngster showed multiple signs of developing into a strong player later on, he never really achieved the maturity and conviction required to excel at the highest level.
Now though, the striker seems to have built up a head of steam and has picked up an impressive tally of 17 goals and five assists from 21 Turkish League games this season. Free-scoring and in the form of his life – there’s no denying that now would be the perfect time for Palace to cash in on their loan striker, while also making a slight profit on his signature in the process.
