Liverpool will lock horns with Norwich City at Carrow Road on Saturday hoping to stretch their lead at the top of the Premier League table. The two sides are facing contrasting fortunes with the Reds currently flying high in league football while the Canaries are languishing at the bottom of the table.
On paper, the Merseyside outfit will be a heavy favourite to win this game, but Daniel Farke will expect his players to put up a stern test in front of their home supporters. Jurgen Klopp will opt for a 4-3-3 formation and could welcome Sadio Mane back to this first-team for this upcoming trip to Norfolk County.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup Vs Norwich City
Defence
Alisson Becker will operate in goal for the European champions after sitting out of the narrow 1-0 win over Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup. Virgil Van Dijk will resume his defensive partnership with Joe Gomez at the heart of the Liverpool defence. However, the centre-back duo will have their hands full while up against Teemu Pukki, who is Norwich’s top goal-scorer with 11 goals so far this season.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will play in the right-back position as he looks to whip in some dangerous crosses into the Canaries penalty box. Andrew Robertson will operate on the other side as the left-back. Klopp will instruct both his full-backs to press high up the pitch so that they can win the ball back quickly and create some decent openings for the front players on the break.
Midfield
Klopp will be inclined to name the same midfield three he started in the 4-0 victory over Southampton earlier this month. So we can expect to see Georginio Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain deployed at the centre of the park as they try to dominate the ball and cook up some decent chances in the final third.
Both Henderson and Oxlade-Chamberlain managed to get their names on the scoresheet versus the Saints which will give them a lot of confidence heading into this weekend’s clash at Carrow Road. Fabinho and Naby Keita will have to settle for a spot on the bench, but James Milner is unlikely to recover in time for this match.
Attack
Both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah will look to stretch the Norwich defenders out on the flanks while Roberto Firmino spearheads the Liverpool attack up top. Salah has enjoyed a rich vein of form over the past couple of games so he will be confident about putting in a match-winning display against Daniel Farke’s men later this week. However, Mane is a slight doubt despite returning to first-team training earlier this week.
Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi will be available for selection on the Reds bench.
