According to a recent report by The Daily Mail, Arsenal are interested in acquiring the services of Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu next summer. However, the same source has also revealed that the Dutch outfit will demand a fee above £15m for their prized asset at the end of this campaign.
Kokcu’s Stellar Rise In Dutch Football
His current deal at Rotterdam is set to expire in the summer of 2023, so Feyenoord will be under no pressure to move him on next summer. The 19-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant campaign in Dutch football so far after putting in some memorable displays at the Feyenoord Stadium. He came through the youth ranks of the Dutch club and has firmly established himself as a first-team regular under Dick Advocaat’s tutelage.
Kokcu has featured in 29 matches for Feyenoord this term, scoring three goals while registering four assists in all competitions. He has represented the Netherlands at various youth levels but has chosen to play for Turkey in the Under-21 level.
The 19-year-old has averaged 1.8 shots, 1.2 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in the Dutch top-flight (stats via whoscored).
What Will The European Sensation Bring To The Emirates Stadium?
Kokcu has decent pace and is a good dribbler with the ball from midfield. He can make some darting runs in the opposition half and can interchange passes well with others around him. However, the Turkish youngster needs to work on improving his productivity if he intends to prove himself at North London.
Will Kokcu Be A Good Choice For The Gunners?
There is no denying that Kokcu is an exciting, young talent who could break out as a world-class player in his position. He has all the makings of a top talent so the Gunners will do well to lure him away from Dutch football before the UEFA Euro 2020 kicks off later this summer.
Kokcu could turn out to be a decent choice for the North London outfit but only if they can seal a move for him before the Euros as his market value could skyrocket if the player performs well for his nation in the summer tournament.
