According to a recent report by The Telegraph (via the Daily Express), Manchester United have decided to cool their interest in landing Danny Ings this month after Southampton declined their initial approach.
It is believed that the Red Devils are desperate to sign a new striker before the transfer window slams shut later tonight following the injury to Marcus Rashford earlier this month (via the Daily Express).
Ings’ Incredible Season At Southampton
The ex-Liverpool forward has enjoyed a rich vein of form for the Saints in the Premier League this season after putting in some eye-catching displays at the St. Mary’s Stadium so far. He has scored 16 goals and provided two assists in 27 matches for the South-coast outfit this term in all competitions.
The 27-year-old has averaged 2.4 shots, 0.7 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored). Ings has also earned a senior cap for England so far and could be in line to feature for the Three Lions in the UEFA Euro 2020 which is set to kick off later this summer.

Ings is a deceptively quick marksman who can make some well-timed runs behind the opposition backline. He is a lethal finisher in the final third and can also score a few goals with his head. The English forward has transformed himself into a prolific goal-scorer at the St. Mary’s Stadium, but he is yet to prove his worth at the highest level.

The addition of a proven goal-getter like Ings would have undeniably bolstered Solskjaer’s attacking options significantly at Old Trafford. Many critics will question man United’s decision to cool their interest in the 27-year-old. It seems like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might have made the wrong call with regards to Ings as the English forward could have helped fire the Mancunian outfit back to the top 4 in the Premier League.
