It has been a crazy season in the Premier League so far. With each and every side having so much quality, the competition is now at a whole new level and this becomes a greater challenge for the mid-table clubs. West Bromwich Albion have had a decent start to their season and find themselves 11th in the table right now after 11 game weeks. They did have some good results in the process but need more consistency in order to finish in the top half.
It’s just November and the transfer window reopens in almost two months which is a long time but the rumour mill hardly keeps silent. The Mirror suggests that the Baggies are still hot on the tail of Schalke left-back Sead Kolašinac whom they chased throughout the summer but hesitated in paying in excess of £10million for a player who was going to be out of contract at the end of this season.
Schalke are yet to tie the Bosnia and Herzegovina international down with a contract extension but are persuading the marauding full-back to stay. However, with his contract expiring next summer, Schalke might be prepared to let him go in January if they get a decent money for him.
Chelsea, Liverpool and West Ham all were rumoured to be interested in the strong full-back’s signature but West Brom are also fancying their chances.
In many ways, Kolašinac is a Tony Pulis’ kind of a player. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international boasts a frame of 6 feet which is big for a full-back and is hardly overpowered by wingers. The 23-year-old is a pretty quick player too. In the Revierderby of late, the 23-year-old kept one of the fastest players in Bundesliga Christian Pulisic silent which speaks highly of his pace.
For Kolašinac’s strong stature, he is often christened as the ‘Bosnian tank’ which is perfectly apt for him. He is a player who has lungs of a horse and works his socks off for the team. On top of his strength, stamina and work rate, the 23-year-old is a versatile player who can play as a left winger, central defensive midfielder and also as a centre back.
Kolasinac could be available on a bargain in January and he will be one hell of a coup for whichever side he signs for. West Brom are playing either Allan Nyon or Brendan Galloway at left-back this season and Kolasinac will be a huge upgrade on either of them.
