Manchester United will face off against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night looking to overturn a 3-1 deficit in the second leg of their semi-final showdown in the Carabao Cup. The Red Devils will come into this encounter on the back of a 6-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup last weekend.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and will be inclined to make a few changes to his side for this clash away at the home of the English champions.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester City
Defence
David De Gea will return to the first-team to start in between the sticks for the Mancunian outfit in midweek. Victor Lindelof is a major doubt for this game so we can expect Harry Maguire to line up alongside Phil Jones at the heart of the Man United backline.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka could get the nod to start in the right-back position while Luke Shaw lines up on the other side as the left-back. The Man United defenders have kept three clean sheets in their past five matches across all competitions so they will have to be brave to stand a fair chance of grabbing another shutout on the road.
Midfield
Nemanja Matic will operate alongside Fred at the centre of the park as the midfield duo focusses on protecting the Red Devils backline. The talented trio of Daniel James, Jesse Lingard and Mason Greenwood will line up just ahead of them as part of the Man United attack.
Both Lingard and Greenwood managed to get their names on the scoresheet versus Tranmere Rovers last weekend so they will fancy their chances of nicking a goal versus the Citizens in midweek.
Juan Mata will be on Solskjaer’s bench and might get a chance to make an impact if required.
Attack
Anthony Martial will be handed the responsibility of leading the charge up top. The French striker managed to find the back of the net versus Tranmere so his confidence will be high heading into this contest at the Etihad.
