Brendan Rodgers’ high-flying Leicester City side got back to winning ways in the league after they beat David Moyes’ West Ham United by a 4-1 scoreline. The Foxes opened the scoring in the first half through Harvey Barnes but unfortunately saw star man Jamie Vardy being subbed off due to injury. Pereira then went on to double their lead on the cusp of half-time, before the Hammers got one back in the second period. A brace by Ayoze Perez, which included a spot-kick and a neat finish, was enough to see out the tie on the night.
Here are the Leicester City players rated in their win over West Ham United.
Kasper Schmeichel – 6
The veteran goalkeeper didn’t have a lot to deal with throughout the tie due to the Foxes’ dominance in the middle of the park. Only had to face two shots on target over the ninety minutes.
Ricardo Pereira – 9
The Portuguese full-back was in full-flow right from the off tonight and looked like a man on a mission every time he got forward as well. Gave Masuaku a horrid time and got a goal and assist too.
Jonny Evans – 7
The former Manchester United man was solid for the most part, and commanded the Leicester line well, even in difficult situations. Did well while playing the ball out from the back as well.
Caglar Soyunçu – 7
The Turkish youngster keeps proving his worth more and more after every game, and his stock is fattening up proportionately as well. Looks calm in possession and can play a pass.
Ben Chilwell – 7.5
The Englishman, like his full-back partner, tried to bombard forward on every possible occasion but had a much harder time against the more defensively solid Aaron Cresswell down that side.
Nampalys Mendy – 6
The midfielder has been showing himself in an excellent light over recent weeks, but unfortunately suffered an injury in the first half and had to be substituted. Was replaced by Wilfred Ndidi
Ayoze Perez – 8
The Spaniard wasn’t at his best in terms of finishing tonight but still managed to score two goals by the end of the ninety minutes. Slotted home well from the spot, and took his second goal exceptionally well.
James Maddison – 7.5
The Englishman wasn’t able to grip the tempo of the game quite as well as he usually does but still made things happen in the middle of the park. Was a constant out-ball for the defenders as well.
Youri Tielemans – 7.5
The Belgian has been forced to do with a place on the bench in recent weeks but showed why he deserves to start with his showing tonight. Moved the ball quickly and kept the Foxes moving.
Harvey Barnes – 8.5
The youngster was set up by Pereira for the Leicester opener, and he repaid the favour right before the half-time break. Ran the show down the flanks with his directness and powerful running.
Jamie Vardy – 6
The veteran attacker had a decent half an hour of action before he picked up an unfortunate injury that required him to be taken off.
Substitutes
Wilfred Ndidi – 7
Showed glimpses of quality in the middle of the park with his balance of physicality and finesse, and worked hard bringing teammates into the game as well. Unnecessarily gave the penalty away.
Kelechi Iheanacho – 7
Linked up well with the rest of the Leicester attackers after coming on, but showed signs of selfishness in the final third. Couldn’t have the same influence consistently though.
Wes Morgan – NA
Didn’t have time to make an impact.
