Tottenham Hotspur, arguably, will be the happier side as the season’s first North London Derby ended 1-1 with Arsenal failing to seize the opportunity and go top of the table. The match was surprisingly devoid of much drama and the fans were perhaps expecting to see a more fiery battle between the two sets of players. But an early season match and 1 point apiece with both teams not having too many reasons to feel hard done. Fair result in the end.
With the game done and dusted, let us have a look at how the Tottenham Hotspur players rated in the draw.
LLORIS-6.5/10
Typical commanding display. Positioned himself well for the effort from Iwobi and made brave saves off the feet of Ozil and Sanchez.
DIER-6.5/10
Fared well in a new position as the right-sided defender in a three-man backline. Had few lapses in concentration which would certainly worry the manager a bit. Picked up a silly booking.
WIMMER-5.5/10
Made his first Premier League appearance in over 7 months and things could hardly have gone worse for him. Shaky in defence and picked up a booking before inadvertently heading the ball into his own net. Will hope the opportunities don’t dry up.
VERTONGHEN-7/10
The referee did not spot a shirt pull on Xhaka which might have been bad news for him. Sometimes was caught on the ball but improved a lot as the game wore on and thwarted Arsenal’s late surge.
