Real Madrid kept their advantage at the top of the table as they beat lowly Leganes 3:0 at the Santiago Bernabeu. A brace from Welsh superstar Gareth Bale took the game away from Leganes before Alvaro Morata rounded off the scoring for Los Blancos. Here are the player’s ratings.
Keylor Navas (7/10): Was a mere spectator throughout the game, the Costa Rican International had a relatively quiet afternoon against the toothless offense of Leganes. However, Navas did make a great save in the second half to keep out Szymanowski.
Danny Carvajal (6.5/10): We didn’t see too much of Danny Carvajal in the first half and the Spanish fullback was given some tough time against Szymanowski, who was one of the better players for Leganes on the afternoon.
Raphael Varane (7/10): Was calm and composed on the ball. Even though the French International had little to do defensively, Varane did look confident in his play. He should be bracing himself for much tougher tasks up ahead as the season goes on.
Nacho Fernandez (7.5/10): Like Varane, Nacho too got tested on very occasions on which Leganes managed to push forward. But Nacho’s long balls put him ahead of Varane in terms of ratings. The dangerous looking balls proved to be a danger for the Leganes defense.
Marcelo (7.5/10): Marcelo was tested on rare occasions too. The Brazilian winger was more influential in the second half, where he shifted his position completely along the left-wing channel. Linking up with teammates with nice and tidy passes.
Toni Kroos (7/10): Toni Kroos was surprisingly slow to get into stride against Leganes. The former Bayern midfielder looked fairly untidy with his long passes and possession but slowly began to put his mark as the game went on, especially in the second half.
