According to a recent report by The Athletic (cited by The Metro), Manchester United have already registered their interest in bringing AC Milan forward Krzysztof Piątek to Old Trafford earlier this month. It was revealed in The Ornstein and Chapman podcast (cited by The Metro) that the Red Devils launched an enquiry over the Serie A striker’s availability with AC Milan demanding a €35m transfer fee for their prized asset.
Piatek’s Frustrating Spell At Milan
With Marcus Rashford sidelined for several weeks due to injury, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s need to strengthen his attacking options has increased with the winter transfer deadline fast approaching. Piatek has endured a frustrating season at the San Siro after failing to find consistency in terms of goal-scoring in the Serie A. He has struggled to hit the heights of the previous campaign and could benefit from a switch away from Italy.
The Polish forward has scored five goals and provided one assist in 19 matches for Stefano Pioli’s side this term in all competitions. He has averaged 2.7 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per game with a pass success rate of 77% in the Italian top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Piatek has also earned ten senior caps for the Polish national side and has registered five goals for his country thus far.
What Will The Poland International Add To Solskjaer’s Team?
Piatek is a deceptively quick centre-forward who has transformed himself into an accomplished finisher in front of goal. He can get into some dangerous positions and packs a lot of venom with his goal attempts. The Polish prospect is also a decent header of the ball as he has a good leap in him which enables him to win most of his aerial duels.
However, Piatek has still not proven his worth at the top level, so one can argue whether he will be able to handle the expectations of playing in the Premier League. At the moment, the Red Devils will be in a race against time to sign a new striker before the end of this month. Therefore, Solskjaer should consider making a move for the Serie A sensation as he could be a gamble worth taking.
If Piatek can rediscover his goal-scoring form at the Theatre of Dreams, then he has the potential to go on a hot streak and fire Man United back into the top 4 come May.
