Newcastle United will travel to Goodison Park to face off against Everton on Tuesday night hoping to continue their good form in the Premier League by picking up all three points on the road. The Magpies will come into this encounter on the back of a 1-0 win over Chelsea and so they will be confident about their chances of securing a result away at Merseyside.
Steve Bruce will opt for a 5-4-1 formation and might bring Matt Ritchie back to his first-team versus Carlo Ancelotti’s men in midweek.
5-4-1 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Everton
Defence
Martin Dubravka will line up in goal for the Tyneside outfit after securing a well-deserved clean sheet against the Pensioners last Saturday. Bruce might opt to play a back three of Fabian Schar, Federico Fernandez and Ciaran Clark as they look to keep things solid in the defensive end when they travel to Merseyside in the upcoming gameweek. Jetro Willems has picked up an injury versus Chelsea and so he is unlikely to be risked in midweek.
Emil Krafth should continue to feature as the right-back while Matt Ritchie fills in on the other side in the left-back position. Both full-backs will be instructed to work hard and cope with the threat of the Toffees wingers.
Jamaal Lascelles might have to settle for a spot on the bench as Bruce looks to hand him some rest on Tuesday.
Midfield
Jonjo Shelvey and Isaac Hayden will operate as the holding midfielders as they focus on providing adequate protection for the Newcastle backline. Both midfielders will have to distribute the ball accurately so that they can cook up some decent goal-scoring opportunities for Joelinton up top.
Miguel Almiron will try to use his pace to cause some problems for the Everton defenders down the left flank. Christian Atsu will be desperate to return to his goal-scoring ways when he laces up at Goodison Park in midweek.
Both Sean Longstaff and Mathew Longstaff will be available on the bench and might come on to make an impact if Bruce calls upon their services.
Attack
Joelinton will once again get a chance to lead the charge down the middle. The Brazilian centre-forward has scored just two goals for the Magpies so far this season which is quite concerning. However, he works hard for his team, so the Toon Army won’t mind him getting another opportunity to spearhead the Newcastle attack.
