Everton will play hosts to Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Tuesday night hoping to return to winning ways in the Premier League. The Toffees managed to grind out a 1-1 draw versus West Ham United last Saturday and so they would come into this contest looking to emerge victorious in front of the home supporters.
Carlo Ancelotti will stick with his favoured 4-4-2 formation and might be inclined to make a couple of changes to his first-team for this clash against the Magpies. We can expect a tightly contested match with both teams trying to go all out in search of the three points.
4-4-2 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Newcastle United
Defence
Jordan Pickford will continue to operate in goal for the Toffees after conceding two goals in his past three starts across all competitions. Michael Keane could get the nod to start alongside Yerry Mina at the heart of the Everton backline while Mason Holgate takes his place on the bench after his heavy involvement against David Moyes’ team at the weekend.
Lucas Digne will continue to feature in the left-back position as he focusses on creating some decent chances for the front players. Djibril Sidibe will hope to do the same on the other side as the right-back.
Ancelotti will expect his defenders to keep things stable at the back when Steve Bruce’s men come to town in midweek.
Midfield
Fabian Delph and Tom Davies will anchor the midfield for the Toffees as they look to stop the opposition from dominating possession at the centre of the park. Bernard will operate as the left-winger while Theo Walcott looks to use his pace to get to the byline down the right flank.
The Toffees need to win the midfield battle if they are to create enough goal-scoring opportunities going forward. However, it won’t be easy against a Newcastle side that loves to defend in numbers inside their own half.
Attack
Ancelotti might once again opt to play Dominic Calvert-Lewin alongside Moise Kean up top. Richarlison is unlikely to be risked in this game after he had picked up an ankle injury in training earlier this month. Calvert-Lewin managed to find the back of the net in his last game and so his confidence will be sky-high heading into this midweek clash against the Tyneside giants.
