Celtic stretched their unbeaten run in the Premiership to 11 games with a 3-0 emphatic win against Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Brendan Rodgers is yet to taste a defeat in a domestic fixture in Scottish football. This win takes Celtic 10 points clear of their nearest rivals Aberdeen with a game in hand, although Rangers have an opportunity to close the gap to nine points if they beat Ross County tomorrow.
Celtic dominated the game from the very first whistle but despite having a number of chances to make their position count, they could not score a first-half goal. However, they eventually broke the deadlock in the second half. Scott Sinclair, Leigh Griffiths and Tom Rogic scored in the second half to hand Celtic comfortable 3 points over Inverness.
Let us take a look at how the Celtic players fared against Inverness:
Craig Gordon: 5.5/10
The Scotsman needs to work on his distribution. Time and again Gordon’s poor distribution is hurting Celtic’s flow in the game.
Mikael Lustig: NA
The Swede started the game in a back three but went off very early picking up an injury. This will be a major blow for the Hoops.
Erik Sviatchenko: 8/10
Played out of the back. Passing was brilliant from the Dane and he was a force in the air.
Jozo Simunovic: 7/10
The Croat once again showed what a brilliant reader of the game he is despite his tender age of just 22. His interception was brilliant and he also passed really well.
Stuart Armstrong: 8/10
Started the game as a number ten but had to switch to right-back after Lustig went off and Celtic switched to a back four. Got forward really well but should have scored when he found an easy chance. Brilliant cutback to Rogic for the third goal in the game.
Scott Brown: 7/10
Impressive, as he has done on a regular basis this season. Controlled the game, tackled well, covered every blade of grass. However, Celtic were given a major blow when he limped off with an injury.
Callum McGregor: 6.5/10
Was sloppy in the first half losing the ball on occasions. Improved drastically in the second half and got himself a brilliant assist for the opening goal.
Patrick Roberts: 7/10
Was impressive on the right flank. His chemistry with Armstrong was extremely good. Was always eager to go forward.
Scott Sinclair: 7.5/10
Was a bit quiet in the first half but made his mark in the second with the opening goal. His timing for the run was perfect.
Leigh Griffiths: 7.5/10
The Scot’s link up play with Dembele was brilliant. Came close to scoring in the first half, but did not miss his chance to find the back of the net by scoring Celtic’s second of the game following up Dembele’s shot that was saved.
Moussa Dembele: 6.5/10
Did not get too many chances to get a goal for himself but his link up play was brilliant.
Substitutes
Emilio Izaguirre: 7/10
A brilliant game at left-back after replacing injured Lustig. Got up and down through the left flank and made a wonderful cross for Armstrong who shockingly missed from a close range.
Nir Bitton: 6/10
Had a decent display in the final 30 minutes. Did not try to pull off anything fancy. Did his job with perfection.
Tom Rogic: 7/10
Played only 20 minutes but still scored a brilliant goal.
