Leicester City entertained Aston Villa at the King Power Stadium earlier tonight in the first leg of the EFL Cup semifinals. The Villans made a terrific start to the match as Frederic Guilbert opened the goal-scoring in the 28th minute. Dean Smith’s men defended resolutely to go into the half-time break with their narrow one-goal lead intact.
The Foxes came back with a point to prove in the second 45 minutes and managed to get the equaliser when Kelechi Iheanacho came on as a substitute and scored in the 74th minute. Both sides fought hard but couldn’t manage to net the winner in the final few moments of the match. The contest ended 1-1 with everything to play for in the second leg at Villa Park.
