Match week 11 of the Premier League has some of the very relishing fixtures on display and it will be more exciting because of the current league standings that have put some clubs in tight positions in the very top half and the lower mid-table. There have been many draws this season with critics saying most teams playing it safe and not going all out to win.
However, in matches like the North London derby, which has produced so many goals in the league history, the results will possibly be more absolute, which will pretty much give a breathing space in the table.
North London derby
The first big Sunday game promises to pack a punch and Arsenal, who are at the second position of the league on level points with leaders Manchester City, will have another chance to move to the top of the table, only this time it might be for two weeks.
Spurs have got the huge boost of Harry Kane, who is specialised at scoring against Arsenal, returning to the squad. He last featured in a 1-0 win over Sunderland and has since been injured with an ankle injury. With the other two strikers- Son and Janssen- pretty much out of form, Pochettino will throw his star forward back into the lineup.
Arsenal have got a timely boost in Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey. With both the teams having a strong first team squad and a realistic possibility to move top of the table, the match cannot be more interesting.
Mourinho’s stern test at Swansea
Mourinho has really tested his fans’ patience with the away loss to Fenerbahce and with his post-match press conference comment stating that he “can’t win the league with these players”, he is now to face the wrath of both the players as well as the fans.
With United’s poor run of form against Swansea, losing this match could well prove to be the first nail in the coffin for Mourinho’s United career. With million dollar signing Paul Pogba out with injury, things are looking way too bad for the Red Devils. Jose needs to come up with a plan soon. His continuous bad-mouthing of refereeing decisions and criticising of his own players is hardly working. C’mon Jose, you’re still the Special One right?
Liverpool v Watford – two teams punch above their weight?
Contrary to what most predicted, Liverpool and Watford are surprisingly in a much more comfortable position. While Liverpool are third in the league level on points with Arsenal and City, Watford are seventh in the league table above Manchester United.
With the league soon going to an international break, both the team will be going into the match wanting to win and stay at a good position in the inter lull.
Watford weren’t expected to be at the dizzying heights of 7th while Liverpool weren’t expected to be this good, blowing teams away with their wayward but effective attacking flair.
