Chelsea have received a boost as Leighton Baines will be not travelling to Stamford Bridge. The Everton left back is still yet to be fully fit. Baines has missed the last five Premier League matches with an injury he picked up on September 17.
Bryan Oviedo has been deployed on the left side of the defence in his absence and has done decently in that position.
Everton had been winless in their last four matches before securing a much-needed win against West Ham United in the last match. Everton won their first five Premier League matches with Baines playing in all of them.
Baines will have a few more weeks to recover as there will be an international break after this week.
Manager Ronald Koeman confirmed Baines’ unavailability, “Maarten is back and did the normal week’s sessions. He’s ready and fit to play, but Baines is not. He’s close to being back but we won’t take any risk because after the weekend we have the international break so, if everything goes well, we will have him back after then.”
