Celtic finally went on to create ‘points gap’ between Rangers and themselves as the Bhoys recently secured a 2-1 win against Hamilton whereas the Gers only managed a draw against Aberdeen. Buoyed by this fact, Lennon will prepare his side for the Betfred Cup final at Hampden Park. This will be the first meeting in a Cup final between the two teams since 2011.
The Hoops are currently on an 11 game-winning run in all competitions, and many might give them the favourites tag for the final. Celtic have also won last nine domestic trophies on offer, and they will look to make it 10 in a row. However, Rangers have seemingly closed the gap this season, and we could be in for a tight affair on Sunday.
Team News: Jonny Hayes, Mohamed Elyounoussi and Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo are back in training. Lennon revealed (Daily Record) that it will be touch and go with their star striker Odsonne Edouard and his availability could go down to the final day. Jozo Simunovic, Scott Bain and Hatem Abd Elhamed are certain to miss out. George Taylor is cup-tied for this encounter.
Celtic Predicted Lineup Vs Rangers
Formation (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Fraser Forster has been terrific in goal so far, and he would once again start in between the sticks for the Hoops. Christopher Jullien should return to the lineup after sitting out the last game. Kristoffer Ajer should partner him. Jeremie Frimpong is likely going to start at right-back, and he could be tested defensively against Rangers. We are expecting Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo to recover for this encounter and start at left-back.
Midfield
Scott Brown- the man, the captain, the legend will once again captain the side and start in midfield. His driving run, in the end, to steal a winner against Hamilton showed why Celtic are champions, and he will once again be crucial for his side in the final. He should be partnered by the equally consistent Callum McGregor in midfield.
Ryan Christie has been in terrific form so far, and he should return to his preferred attacking midfield role. James Forrest should get back on the right flank, which is his usual position. Michael Johnston has looked sharp in little cameos in the last few games, and it is time for Lennon to unleash him from the start against Rangers. He should occupy the left-wing spot.
Attack
Edouard’s injury wasn’t seen as a big worry a week back, but now his availability hangs in the balance. We are expecting him to recover and lead the line. If he is absent then, Lewis Morgan might get the nod to start upfront.
