10 games are too early to term someone as a success or a failure but looking at how Watford have fared since the arrival of Walter Mazzarri in place of Quique Sanchez Flores, it looks like the former Napoli boss could be a big success at Watford.
After 10 games this season, the Hornets have 15 points to their name and find themselves 7th in the table, one spot ahead of giants Manchester United which is pretty impressive.
Looking at the early season form of Watford this season, it is quite clear that there are plenty of areas where they need to focus on. One of those is the attack. Last season, Watford rarely had to struggle for goals with Ighalo and Deeney scoring 33 between them in all competitions but their form has dried up this term.
The two forwards have scored just five times between them this season and we expect to see Watford looking for striking reinforcements if things do not improve really soon.
In fact, if the rumour mill is to be believed, Mazzarri has already started looking for players who can add firepower to his attack and Paul-Georges Ntep has emerged as a potential target as per talkSPORT.
Once a Liverpool and Arsenal target, The Rennes winger is out of contract next summer and is not interested in signing a new deal. It is reported that Rennes would rather let the Frenchman leave this winter on a cut-price rather than seeing him depart for free next summer.
According to talkSPORT, Watford are preparing a £4.5m bid for the French international in January to bring him to Vicarage Road. If the Hornets succeed in bringing the Frenchman to the club for such a low price, Mazzarri will have pulled a rabbit out of the hat.
Ntep is a quick and skilful player who can play either on the left flank or as a centre-forward. In Mazzarri’s 3-5-2 system, he would slot in up front alongside skipper Troy Deeney with ease.
Ntep has played eight Ligue 1 games for Rennes this season having set up four goals which speak highly of his creativity. The 2-time capped French international is a brilliant dribbler and has made 2.5 dribbles every game this season.
To succeed in a 2-man attack, you need two attackers who can create opportunities for each other rather than waste chances and be selfish. Ntep has a brilliant decision-making ability which is an impressive attribute.
The Frenchman has made 1.8 key passes every game while his overall passing success of 81.8% is also impressive for a forward. A Premier League player to whom Ntep is pretty similar in attributes in Sadio Mane and Watford would pull off an excellent signing if they can bag his signature on a bargain.
