Tottenham Hotspur will clash heads with Manchester United on Wednesday night hoping to keep their winning run going under Jose Mourinho. Spurs will come into this encounter at the back of a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Bournemouth last weekend.
The North London club will opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation with Lucas Moura expected to return to Mourinho’s starting XI.
4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester United
Defence
Paulo Gazzaniga will play in goal for Spurs despite conceding two goals at home against the Cherries last weekend. The defensive pair of Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez will operate at the centre of the Tottenham backline. However, they will have their hands full while up against Man United’s Anthony Martial.
Serge Aurier is a nailed-on starter at the right-back position after putting in a couple of impressive displays in recent weeks. Jan Vertonghen will keep his place in Mourinho’s first-team and will fill in as a makeshift left-back.
The North London outfit has shipped in 21 goals in 14 matches in the Premier League so far. Hence, Mourinho will be desperate to his players improve on their defensive record over the next few weeks.
Midfield
Both Harry Winks and Eric Dier will anchor the midfield for Spurs as they focus on providing adequate protection for the defenders at the back. The talented trio of Heung-min Son, Dele Alli and Lucas Moura might play just ahead of them as part of Mourinho’s attack.
Alli managed to score a brace against Bournemouth at the weekend so he will hope to keep his good form going at Old Trafford on Wednesday night. Moura will also be a potent threat on the counter as evidenced by his match-winning performance in this fixture last season.
Moussa Sissoko will have to settle for a spot on the bench and might get a chance to make an impact if Mourinho calls upon his services.
Attack
Harry Kane will once again lead the charge for the North London giants up top. The English marksman did not find the back of the net in his last league start so he will be desperate to return to his goal-scoring ways versus Man United later this week.
