According to a recent report by the Sun, Manchester United are lining up a move to acquire the services of Real Madrid speedster Gareth Bale when the transfer window reopens in January. The same source has also mentioned that the Red Devils are eager to bring the Welsh international back to England but might have to give up Paul Pogba to the Galacticos in return.
It is believed that the entire deal could be delayed if United are not willing to sanction the Frenchman’s departure in January (via the Sun).
Bale’s Struggles At The Bernabeu This Season
Bale had to endure a stop-start season in the La Liga as he has sustained a calf injury which has kept him out of action for the past few weeks. His career at the Spanish capital has come to a standstill so he will welcome the opportunity to switch clubs this winter. A change of scenery could help the Welsh international reignite his career in European football. Furthermore, this would be Bale’s last chance to get a big move to an elite club as he is about to embark upon the twilight years of his playing career.
The 30-year-old has netted two goals and created two assists in seven appearances for Los Blancos this term across all competitions. He also has a wealth of experience in international football having secured 79 caps for Wales while netting 32 goals for them thus far.
What Can The Welsh Wing Wizard Add To Solskjaer’s Side?
On his day, Bale can still be a real game-changer as he possesses the ability to win a match on his own. Even though he has lost a yard of pace from his game, the Welsh attacker can be a very dangerous dribbler with the ball at his feet. He comes alive in 1v1 situations which makes him a potent threat on the counter.
Recruiting Bale This Winter: Wise Move For The Mancunian Giants?
Man United could undeniably benefit from acquiring someone of Bale’s skillset as they have often looked a bit lacklustre in the offensive end of the field this season. The form of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial hasn’t particularly been great at Old Trafford so far. Therefore the Welshman could be a good signing as he will add some much-needed creativity out from the wide positions.
However, there are some serious concerns over Bale’s fitness and whether he would be able to handle the physical demands of English football. All in all, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be making a wise short-term addition if he chooses to sign the Real Madrid star this winter.
