According to Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs interested in the services of Suso. The Milan attacker has reportedly fired his agent Alessandro Lucci and has appointed super-agent Mino Raiola, who could play a key role in his future, especially with Spurs, West Ham and Wolverhampton Wanderers all vying for his signature.
Why is Suso such a sought-after commodity in the market?
A former outcast at Liverpool, Suso has made a name for himself since moving to Milan in 2015. Especially in recent years, the Spaniard has been extremely consistent, despite all the mediocrity surrounding his club. In fact, he is now regarded as one of the best creative players in Serie A at the moment.
During his almost four year spell at Milan, Suso has scored 47 goals while providing 36 assists in 147 competitive matches. He has built an excellent partnership with Hakan Calhanoglu in recent years. The 25-year-old might have attained better statistics as well if he had received better support.
That being said, Suso has fallen out of favour a bit this season. The Spaniard has been involved in just two goals in 11 matches. As a result, Milan are dawdling at the bottom end of the table, despite the arrival of new coach Stefano Pioli.
How exactly can Suso benefit Spurs?
It’s no secret that Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for life without Christian Eriksen. The Dane’s contract expires at the end of the season, and a move away from north London could be on the horizon, in the upcoming January transfer window. His potential departure would surely create a massive void in the creative department.
Suso, in that regard, should be able to fill that gap to an extent. The Spaniard is blessed with technical prowess, which is coupled with his ability to find a plethora of key passes in and around the final third. He also has the previous exposure of playing in the Premier League, which should help him integrate quickly.
Therefore, Suso is indeed a viable target for Tottenham Hotspur. He has the quality to add more bite into the Spurs’ creative department, especially with Eriksen set to leave while Dele Alli has struggled with lack of form. But, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to sign someone like James Maddison, who has already proven himself in the Premier League and won’t take any time settling in.
