According to the reports from Italian media outlet Mediaset as cited by Birmingham Mail, AC Milan are ready to sell midfielder Franck Kessie who has been a target for Wolves. The midfielder was linked heavily with the West Midlands club in the summer, but nothing transpired at that time. It is believed now that the Premier League will be his next destination.
The midfielder has been linked heavily with a €25m move to Wolves. The midfielder has so far made ten appearances for the fallen Italian heavyweights this season in central midfield and has managed one goal.
What can Kessie offer?
Kessie showcases decent pace, and he can go on marauding and driving runs from midfield. He also has a terrific engine which allows him to run up and down the pitch for the full game. He is strong and uncomplicated in his approach, and his playing style should suit the Premier League.
The 22-year-old has a commanding presence in midfield, and he often tends to win a lot of 50-50 duels. He also boasts a terrific shot power which can trouble the opposition from a distance. The Ivory Coast international might need some time to get used to the pace of the Premier League, but he has all the ingredients to thrive in the English top-flight for a club like Wolves.
Should Santo look to bring him at Molineux?
Nuno Santo usually deploys a midfield partnership of Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves. Moutinho is already 33, so Wolves needs to keep an eye on his replacement. Kessie might need some time to get going, but once he settles in at the club, then he could be a dominant figure for Wolves in the middle.
He is still just 22, and there are room for improvements to his game. Kessie’s performances for AC Milan has been patchy so far, and he is yet to really get going for them. Milan as a whole are struggling as a team so it wouldn’t be right just to point out Kessie for some of their bad performances.
Maybe a change in the club could bring the best out of him, and Wolves should be all over this midfielder in January now that Milan are ready to ship him away. €25m for him in the current market scenario seems to be a decent deal. He still has his contract with the Serie A side until 2022, so it is more than a reasonable price for Wolves to pay.
